Cannabis Concentrates

Cannabis concentrates, also referred to as extracts, is any product derived from cannabis flower that is processed into a concentrated form, each type of cannabis oil is unique. Concentrates are made by extracting the terpene and cannabinoid rich resin glands of the cannabis plant. Naturally occurring cannabinoids and terpenes give the cannabis their unique aroma and effects, which are different depending on the strain. Cannabis manufacturers use a variety of extraction methods to get the flavor and potency they want. Concentrates are used to vape, dab or applied to prerolls for an extra punch.

Select from a wide menu of concentrates: hash, budder, crumble, diamonds, sugar, rosin, badder, sauce.

“Live” concentrates are made with cannabis that has been immediately flash frozen after harvest to preserve more of the cannabinoid and terpene content. Use live resin as soon as possible, since these types of extracts are highly perishable.

Full Spectrum means a broad array of cannabinoids and other plant compounds, including terpenes, which provide an enhanced cannabis flavor and provide deeper effects.

Solventless is a term used for any cannabis concentrate that was produced without the use of a solvent (ethanol, butante, propane, etc). Solventless concentrates include hash, temple ball rosin and live rosin.

Concentrates should be kept in a cool dry place.

Varieties

KIEF

Kief is created by “dry sifting,” tumbling cannabis flowers or trim to shake the resin away from the plant matter. Kief still contains a significant portion of plant material. These loose resin crystals can be sprinkled into a joint, eaten, vaporized or smoked as-is.

HASH

Hash comes crumbly, in patty form or rolled into a ball. The distinction between types of hash is due to how it is processed. Some hash makers microplane their hash patties to increase the surface area, allowing a cohesive dry which improves the color and taste. Bubble hash is solventless and is made with an ice extraction method. Take a bit of hash and add to a joint or vaporizer. It is commonly used to make homemade edibles.

TEMPLE BALL

Temple Ball is reminiscent of the smoky-rich, hand-rolled charas originating from the Indian subcontinent. Typically prepared by gently warming crumbly hash and rolling it into a ball, temple ball is also a by-product of hand-harvesting sticky buds.

LIVE RESIN

Live Resin is a whole plant extraction where ripe flowers are frozen immediately after harvest in order to preserve as much cannabinoid and terpene content as possible. The frozen plants are put through a solvent-based process. Live resin is considered a full spectrum product.

SHATTER

Shatter is made using a solvent-based process to extract the cannabinoids and terpenes from cannabis plant material. The extracted oil is then heated in a vacuum, which evaporates the solvent, leaving a highly concentrated cannabis oil with an amber glass-like consistency that is easy to break apart to vape or dab.

BUDDER

Budder is also made using a solvent-based process to extract the cannabinoids and terpenes from cannabis plant material. Unlike shatter, budder has a more waxy, “buttery,” consistency. It tends to degrade quicker than shatter so should be used soon after purchase to enjoy its full potency.

SUGAR

Sugar is the result of leaving shatter to cure. The naturally occurring terpenes break down the shatter and transform it into a flavorful, sugar-like extract.

ROSIN

Rosin is a solventless concentrate created by processing trim, flower, kief, or hash using pressure and heat. When compressed, the cannabis material oozes resin, which is then collected to create a fresh extract that is suitable for dabbing.

SAUCE

Sauce is terpene-rich and full of flavor. During the manufacturing process, the terpenes and cannabinoids separate creating a saucy mixture of “terp sauce” and crystals.

CRYSTALLINE

Crystalline is also called “diamonds” or “crystals”. It is processed to be potent and high in THC. It does not contain terpenes or multiple cannabinoids.
